Drive to Tavertet, and take the road leaving Tavertet near the Church heading East and signposted to Rupit. It is paved and narrow and has potholes which add to the charm. You will know you are on the right road because after 50 metres a sign warns to look out and respect walkers, cyclists and animals with the words PRECAUCIÓ, CAMÍ ESTRET. The speed limit is 30 km/hour. At the entrance of the village at weekends there is a barrier next to the parking, but ignore it and say you are going to l'Avenc if stopped and continue.

After 3 km. you will see the entrance (by road) to l’Avenc to your left, this takes you to the reception and service area of the new wing. Don't turn here. 50 metres further on is the main garage entrance where you can leave your car out of the sun or rain and take the lift up to the reception passing throw the main hall.

Coming from Barcelona, take the C-17 that goes around Vic and heads north. Don’t go into Vic. Carry on until you are signposted to Girona on C-25 (also called the Eix Transversal from Lleida to Girona). Take the Girona direction and come off at the second exit to Roda de Ter and C-153. This road takes you past Roda de Ter and would end up in Olot  but after 10 kms you’ll need to turn off at L’Esquirol, go through the village and up a 13km narrow winding newly tarred road Tavertet. The views are spectacular. The whole journey takes approximately: 2 hours.

Public Transport

From Barcelona, you can get to Vic by train or coach. See RENFE (trains) and SAGALÉS (Barcelona-Rupit). Public transport is very reasonable in Catalunya.

From Vic the Sagalés Coach Company goes to Rupit. Check timetables as there are only a few buses a day. Then you need to get a taxi to l'Avenc.

From Vic, you can also get a taxi to l’Avenc for about 55€. The taxi driver who we work with is Manel (0034 629708077).
