HOW TO ARRIVE
ATTENTION: The best route to reach Avenc is via Tavertet

L’Avenc is 3 kms from the tiny village of Tavertet. Para llegar a l’Avenc de Tavertet. Once in the village and having asked permission at the weekend barrier, go past Hostal El Nogués, leaving El Jufré to your right, and carry on along the cliff farm road that would take you to Rajols and finally joining the C-153 to Rupit. The farm road says “Camí de Tavertet a Rupit”. Continue along this narrow paved farm road and after 3 kms you’ll be at l’Avenc. Drive into the underground carpark through enormous wooden and iron doors and then go up to Reception via the stairway or lift.
If you are coming from Barcelona, you need to get onto the C-17 dual carriageway heading for Vic. Bypass Vic and take the dual carriageway C-25 that would take you to Girona but come off very soon at Roda de Ter. From Roda de Ter drive towards Rupit and Olot along the C-153 and then turn off at l’Esquirol taking the minor winding road (BV-5207) with amazing views on the way to the village of Tavertet. Once you get there and having asked permission at the weekend barrier, go past Hostal El Nogués, leaving El Jufré to your right, and carry on along the cliff farm road that would take you to Rajols and finally joining the C-153 to Rupit. .If you are coming from Girona, the easiest and shortest route is by taking the dual carriageway called the Eix Transversal C-25 towards Vic and eventually Lleida, leaving this road at Roda de Ter and driving up towards Rupit and Olot turn off at o l’Esquirol towards Tavertet on the minor winding road (BV-5207) with amazing views on the way to the village of Tavertet. From Girona, there are other optional routes to L’Avenc which are equally beautiful and interesting but slightly longer. One is to head towards Anglès on the national road N-141 and then take the C-63 towards Olot. This will take you through or near little villages and towns such as Anglès, Cellera de Ter, Amer, Planes d’Hostoles, Sant Feliu de Pallerols and Sant Esteve d’en Bas. You’ll go through two tunnels and at Les Preses, before Olot you need to turn left towards Rupit and perhaps via Hostalets d’en Bas along the C-154 and then the C-153. Don’t take the tunnel at the roundabout to Manlleu as this will send you over the other side of the hills and then back again. Just after a straight stretch the mountain road begins to wind up to Rupit and at kms. 28,5, just after the turnoff to Rupit, you turn left up a narrow farmroad that takes you via Rajols to L’Avenc. This road is paved but has potholes but takes you to L’Avenc directly. Don’t take this route in the winter when the icy conditions might make it slippery.
How to get here with public transport
From Barcelona, there are trains and buses to Vic.
From Vic, Segalés bus company has a service from Vic to l’Esquirol o Rupit. On Tuesdays and Saturdays there is a taxi-bus from L’Esquirol to Tavertet and back again, but one needs to book this service by phoning 938892577. We are happy to pick you up and/or take you back to Rupit for 7,50€/journey if you give us warning of your time and date of arrival.
From Vic and other nearby towns, a taxi to l’Avenc will cost you about 55€.
